The Role of Hysteroscopy in Infertile Women

Abstract
Factors causing of female infertility have been sought with the use of hysterosalpingography and endometrial biopsy, but hysteroscopy can increase the accuracy in evaluation uterine factors recently.
We performed hysteroscopy for the infertility work up in 63 patients with primary or secondary infertility, the diagnostic accuracy of hysterosalpingography and hysteroscopy were evaluated in 59 patients who underwent these procedures as part of their infertility. Those findings are similar in 41 patients(69.5 % ), and divergent in 18(30.5%). We also performed operative hysteroscopy in 26 patients and evaluated pregnancy outcome in them.
The data suggest that adjunctive hysteroscopy can increase the accuracy of diagnosis, particulary when abnormal hysterosalpingogram have been obtained oi intrauterine lesion suspected, after hysterographic screening, and also effective treatment can be achived through conducting operative procedure simultaneously in infertile patients with intrauterine disease.
